About Us

Immanuel United Methodist Church

Immanuel’s congregation has been in Edwardsville since 1859. Since then, we have been on a continuous journey to discover who God is, and how we can better serve God’s kingdom. Everyone is always welcome and accepted when they walk through our doors. We long to share Jesus Christ with all we meet, as well as the grace we receive every day from our Heavenly Father. We follow the Great Commission from Jesus; to go and make disciples of all nations in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We can’t wait to get to know who you are, and what God has in store for you.

United Methodism

Immanuel is part of the global church known as United Methodism. Founded by John Wesley, the United Methodists hold the faith many Christians share, with a focus on God’s grace for everyone. Immanuel and other UM churches seek to live our faith everyday through action. Through our united partnership, we are able to start local ministries, support connected churches, and provide for humanitarian efforts across the globe. Mission

“To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by sharing faith and serving others.” We seek to be God’s people in our attitude and through our actions. Together, we wish to experience and share God’s grace joyfully, live and teach God’s Word faithfully, as well as accept and serve God’s people lovingly.

We are a Reconciling Ministries Congregation:

Therefore, we welcome people of every age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, family structure, and physical or mental ability into the full participation of our congregation. We are called by God to raise the level of hope for those who have been marginalized and singled out for exclusion, including our gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender sisters and brothers. Our passion for a wide welcome of all God’s children moves us to participate in reconciling and justice ministries so that we might truly
