About Us

IUMC

Immanuel’s congregation has been an integral part of the Edwardsville community since 1859. Our journey is one of continuous discovery as we seek to better understand and serve God’s kingdom. At Immanuel, everyone is welcomed with open arms and accepted just as they are. We are deeply committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ and the grace given to us by our Heavenly Father each day. Following the Great Commission, we are dedicated to spreading the gospel to all nations in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are enthusiastic about connecting with you, hearing your story, and exploring the amazing plans God has for each of us.

United Methodism

Immanuel is affiliated with the worldwide body of believers known as United Methodism. Established by John Wesley, United Methodists embrace a common faith shared by many Christians, emphasizing God’s grace for all. Immanuel, along with other United Methodist congregations, endeavors to manifest our faith through daily deeds. Through our collaborative efforts, we initiate local ministries, bolster sister churches, and contribute to humanitarian endeavors globally. Our Mission is

As we recognize the value in each other, we recognize God. We embrace God’s good gift of diversity and believe all persons are of sacred worth. Therefore, we welcome people of every age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, family structure, and physical or mental ability into the full participation of our congregation. We are called by God to raise the level of hope for those who have been marginalized and singled out for exclusion, including our gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender sisters and brothers. Our passion for a wide welcome of all God’s children moves us to participate in reconciling and justice ministries so that we might truly HAVE Open Minds, Open Hearts, and Open Doors
